As a woman, Lema understands the challenges of balancing family, home, career and business. She is familiar with the hurdles women face in pursuing their dreams. She also understands the pressures of societal expectations, family demands, and unfavorable customs surrounding women. Lema helps women thrive in spite of these. She partners and works with other women to provide mentoring and support to women in need through Women Are Core, a DUNIA Magazine initiative.
Regular conference calls, and home meetings are organized to share information and resources with women. Every year, Women Are Core also organizes a run/walk which includes a cultural evening, to help raise awareness about issues faced by women of African descent.
